POOL HIBERNATION

With the arrival of autumn we must begin to prepare the pool for winter, if we do not have air conditioning equipment to extend the swimming season. When the water temperature drops below 15 degrees, that is when we should consider hibernation. Valid for any type of pool disinfection, whether traditional chlorination with tablets or saline. If the equipment is salt chlorination, you can take advantage of the winter, when the cell is not working, to perform maintenance. Clean the metal plates with cell cleaner to remove limescale… that exists on the plates.

ADVANTAGES OF HIBERNATION

We keep the pool water in conditions with minimal electrical consumption and fewer chemical products. With hibernation we achieve economic and work savings.

HOW TO PROCEED TO HIBERNATION

  1. Cleaning: The first thing you should do is clean your pool well, scrub the walls and vacuum.

  2. Cleaning the filter: Next, perform an intense wash and then rinse the sand filter.

  3. Analysis: Analyze the pH of the water and make the necessary adjustments to have a value between 7.2 and 7.4.

  4. Chemical products: Add shock chlorination products and the special product for pool hibernation.

  • If you turn off the filter pump during the entire winter. The pool must be filtered for a minimum of 8 hours and then watered at the end of the winter season, which is a general rule. In this case it is recommended to cover the pool with a cover.

  • If we leave the filtration pump running. The filter should be left on for 2 to 4 hours a day (depending on the water temperature, the lower the temperature, the fewer hours of filtration and maintain a low chlorine dosage, around 0.5 ppm.

Once the water exceeds 15 degrees, the usual summer maintenance must be carried out again.

Remember that these are just some general tips. I would recommend that you consult a professional or follow your pool manufacturer's specific instructions for a more detailed and accurate guide.
